Exterminating Bedbugs

In recent decades, bedbugs have become an unpleasantly common phenomenon in the cities of the developed world. Eliminating them can be difficult, but it is possible if you follow an effective basic strategy.

It is important that you recognise you have a problem with bedbugs early on. Remember that, contrary to what their name suggests, these little pests do not only live in your mattress but can inhabit any soft furnishings in your home.

If you find your skin regularly covered with small red welts, or if you notice unexplained little tears in your mattress covering, it is probably a good idea to call an exterminator immediately. Unfortunately, it is almost impossible to get rid of bedbugs without professional help, but there are a few steps that can be taken towards an effective pest purge.

To begin with, you need to launder all duvets, pillows and their coverings. Do not move onto a couch and sleep there because the bedbugs will simply come with you. Next, buy a plastic mattress wrap with a zip and put it over your mattress. This will stop the bedbugs from spreading to other areas in your home.

From here, an exterminator will take over. Environmentally conscious people, afflicted with bedbugs will be pleased to find that there are a number of professionals in this industry who operate in an energy-efficient way, using only the poisons that are absolutely necessary.

Effective Fly Control

The common housefly afflicts homes all over the world. Some areas are worse hit than others, but in general, the fly is a fairly ubiquitous pest. Eliminating and deterring these insects can be a tricky business, since they tend to lay many eggs and can also fly in from outside the home, however, with the correct equipment, it is possible to keep them away.

It is important, before you begin the process of extermination, to understand why we do not approve of flies in the home. In short, they pose a health and hygiene risk, because they are undiscerning eaters and will snack on anything from rotting food to the cereal in your breakfast bowl. In this way, they spread the germs picked up at one unsavoury food source to your clean environment.

Fly control begins with prevention. By eliminating that which attracts flies to your home to begin with, you will significantly reduce the number of these pests in your environment. Be sure not to leave food open outside of the fridge, for example, and make sure that compost is kept only in one, removed area of the garden.

If, once these steps have been taken, the fly problem remains, it may be necessary for you to invest in a few traps. Long strips of sticky fly tape and bucket fly catchers are an unsightly but effective means by which to control the pests and, in addition, these do not become an energy drain since they need no electricity.

To sum up, fly control is important in the interest of hygiene. Elimination can be easily effected initially by simply removing sources of fly attraction from your home, and by putting up a few simple fly traps.

Home builders have been busy in Turkey

In recent years, the overseas property market has seen many fluctuations. Recent publicity about British people suffering difficulties after buying houses in Florida has worried many, and there is an understandable lack of confidence in the idea of purchasing a place abroad.
In Turkey, however, home builders have been busily finishing holiday villas in various parts of the country. The local climate is perfect for vacations, of course, and the fact that the country hasn’t adopted the euro as yet makes it a popular area for investment at the moment. It may prove to be the ideal location for future trips.

Property in Buckinghamshire – somethig for everyone

The home counties have traditionally been home to those looking to commute to London, and that’s still the case these days. A significant proportion of people who live in Surrey, Essex, Kent and Hertfordshire make their way to the capital every weekday. The same applies to a large number of those who live in property in Buckinghamshire.
The transport links are excellent, and trains from Aylesbury, for example, take just an hour to get to Waterloo. The price of houses and flats in the area are currently lower than you may think, so now is a good time to start looking.

Ants can be more than just a pest

Ants can be a serious problem in the home, especially if they damage skirting boards, door frames and other areas. These insects live in large colonies, usually in a nest in the garden. Thankfully, there are steps that can be taken to remove them.

A special powder is sprayed into or close to the nest. Ants tend to travel on the same routes when foraging for food, so it can also be sprayed along their trails. You can also use a special gel which the creatures take back to their colony.
